  • To reduce traffic and facilitate physical distancing in the change rooms, please:
    • Arrive ready with your swimsuit on.
    • Shower at home after swimming or limit your shower time.
  • If pools are at max capacity, you will be asked to wait in line prior to entering the building.

  • You must shower with soap and water before entering the pool.
  • Do not spit or blow your nose into the water, grates, pool deck or showers.
  • Please respect the separate capacity limits for pools, lanes, open swim, change rooms etc. Signs stating the capacity limit of each area will be posted around the facility.
  • Please follow the traffic flow map for your YMCA or H2O pools (PDF on schedules page) to help you maintain a healthy physical distance while entering and exiting the pool deck.
  • There will be no use of facility equipment available (e.g. kickboards, dumbbells, pull buoys, waterpark mats etc.)
  • There will be no seating available for viewing in the facility, all family members must come to swim. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate those who just want to watch at this time.

Yes, our pools at the Kelowna Family YMCA and H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre reopened on Monday, August 10, 2020.

Our open swim times, lane swimming and aquatic fitness classes will vary in times. There will be periods of time daily where these services are not available to members and the public. Please refer to our facility pool schedules and the questions in this FAQ below for these details.

Yes! We have designated times for open swim time at both the Kelowna Family YMCA and H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre. Check the pool schedules to see what times are available at each centre.

Open swim time is available for both members and non-members. At this time, we are not requiring registered time slots for open swim time. If our pools are at maximum capacity, members (and non-members) will be asked to wait prior to entering. No kids toys or swim equipment will be provided at this time, and goggles are recommended.

*Please read and follow our full set of pool guidelines, which can be found at the top of this Pool and Aquatic Services FAQ.

Yes! Lane swimming is available at the Kelowna Family YMCA and H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre. Members are required to register online to secure a 1 hour or 30 minute time slot. Lane swimming for the public is first come, first served and will be based on pool and lane capacities.

Check the pool schedules to see when lane swimming is available at each centre. You'll also find pool maps on that page, which will show you how to move around the pool and where each lane is.

Bubble-Friendly Lane Bookings

As of October 13, up to 4 people can circle swim in one lane, provided that they are "bubble buddies" (part of a small group who allow close contact. See BC Restart Plan for more details).

How to do it:
  1. One person will reserve the lane online and will be the contact person. Before completing their reservation, the contact person will write the names of their bubble buddies in the notes.
  2. Each swimmer will check in with member services on their way through the building. Those buddies who are not the contact person will mention the name of the contact person and their own name at check-in.
  3. Bubble Buddies will arrive on time to their lanes and will aim to be as distanced as possible while in our facility, this means no congregating on the pool deck or in lanes during, before, or after swim times.
Lane swim considerations/"rules to go by":
  • Upon arrival for your booking, the person who booked the lane must check in with our member services desk so our team can confirm your attendance in our system.
  • If you are unable to utilize your lane, even if it is last minute, please cancel your booking through your online class and lane booking account.
  • If you are more than 10 minutes late for a lane booking the lane may be given away due to high demand and drop in requests.
  • After December 1, if you have 3 or more “no-show” visits, your pre-booking privileges will be suspended for 30 days. If you still want to continue to come to the centre to swim, you will have to do so on a drop-in basis.
  • 30 minute lane options are now available (starting November 17, 2020). Since not everyone utilizes the full hour, this option will be available to allow for a shorter swim time if preferred.
  • Bubble-friendly lane bookings are for lane swimming only. These lane reservations are not to be used for fun/play swim.
  • Lane swimmers are strongly advised to wear goggles in the pool.
  • Please bring your own equipment/swim aids from home if you need them.
  • 1 lane at each centre is designated for those who require the ability lift or stairs. (Shallow lane 1 at the Kelowna Family Y and shallow lane 8 at the H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre) Please do not book these lanes unless you or someone in your bubble has mobility issues.

*Please read and follow our full set of pool guidelines, which can be found at the top of this Pool and Aquatic Services FAQ.

Based on the most recent Provincial Health Order and BCCDC Guidelines released for the safe operation of group fitness classes in BC, our aquatic fitness classes will continue to be temporarily suspended until further notice. Please continue to monitor our website for updates. We cannot wait to offer these classes again in the future when it is deemed safe to do so.

*Swim lessons have not been affected by the most recent Provincial Health Order (November 2020).

Yes! We are operating swim lessons, available at the Kelowna Family Y and H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre. Please see the Swim Lesson FAQ for more information.

Yes! Water activities add a little extra fun and variety to our child and youth programming. Camp and program time is incorporated into our pool schedules.

Due to capacity and physical distancing requirements, these areas will remain closed at this time. Stay tuned for updates on the opening of these spaces.

Yes. Our pool changerooms at the Kelowna Family Y and H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre are now open, including showers and lockers (though some lockers remain temporarily closed to ensure proper physical distancing between members and guests). We do recommend that our members and guests accessing the pools please come ready in their swim gear to limit the amount of time spent in the change room. As well, masks are now mandated in all public indoor spaces, including changerooms. Masks are recommended but not mandated for children 12 years of age and younger.

Everyone will be required to shower with soap and water prior to entering the pool deck.
