We are offering an Essential Services Child Care Program in Penticton. To indicate your need for care, complete this survey

Our charity is responding to COVID-19 including temporarily closing all YMCA recreation facilities during this time. Child care, virtual early years community services and career development services will continue to run. The most recent information can be found at ymcaokanagan.ca/COVID19

The following centres are currently closed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Kelowna Family YMCA
  • Kelowna Downtown YMCA
  • H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre

YMCA Child Care centres and community program locations including the Pandosy YMCA, will remain open at this time, with extra precautions taking place to keep our Y community members healthy.

We will not be charging any fees for programs and services during this time. All YMCA memberships have been put on hold and automatic payments have been paused until we re-open. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this time and hope to welcome you all back soon.

During this time we have limited staff resources and are unable to process transactions. All memberships have been placed on hold, and no further payments will be withdrawn until services resume.

Should you wish to make any changes, please contact your centre directly once our facilities reopen.

If you purchased a student membership and were unable to use it in full due to temporary closures, we will honour a credit for time lost, which you can take full advantage of once we reopen our doors.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We hope to welcome you back soon!

YMCA child and youth programs and camps including Karate, Tennis, Active Arts, Girls Unite, Boys in Action and other recreational programs have been cancelled until further notice.

As well, lifeguard courses (advanced aquatics) and fitness instructor training have been postponed at this time.

We will work to provide details on new program and course dates as we get closer to reopening.

For anyone who has registered in a paid program that has been cancelled due to temporary closures, a credit will be placed on their account for future use. Refunds will be issued on request. We hope to welcome all of our program participants back again soon!

We understand that wellness in spirit, mind and body is more important than ever during this challenging time. We encourage everyone to remain physically active and get outside.  We are currently working on gathering some additional resources for members. For a free online resource to help you stay active and live healthy, try these virtual fitness class videos created by experts at Canadian Y's (including us!)

The decision to close our health, fitness and aquatic facilities has not been made lightly, as it directly affects over 17,000 members, program and camp participants, plus several hundred staff and volunteers. As a ‘people first’ organization, we are committed to supporting our employees to the best of our ability during this closure.

To our valued donors of the YMCA, we extend our sincerest thank you for the impact you are making on our local community. It is now more important than ever to ensure those community members most affected will have access to Y programs and services for their health and wellbeing once this pandemic is behind us.

Many members have said that they want the YMCA to continue taking their fees––rather than put memberships on hold––because we are a valued charity dedicated to strengthening communities. We will put all memberships on hold and instead, we invite those interested in giving back to make a donation so the Y can continue its important work. (Your gift is eligible for a tax receipt.)
