  • Local Tom Harris Cellular stores raise $5K to send kids to camp

    The Tom Harris Cellular Team present the YMCA of Okanagan with a $5,000 donation to the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign, which will give local children in need the opportunity to attend a Y summer camp. 

  • Gibson Contracting cares for local families

    Gibson Contracting, the Wyant Group and Valens GroWorks presented the YMCA of Okanagan with $7,217.17 raised at their client appreciation event and fundraiser in support of YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign. This donation ensures more local underprivileged children, youth and families can access YMCA programs and services.  

  • Boyd Autobody helps chip away at child inactivity

    Boyd Autobody & Glass presented the YMCA of Okanagan with $1,600 towards their YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. The donation will make it possible for more local underprivileged children, youth and families to attend child care, summer camps and other YMCA health programs they would otherwise not be able to afford.  

  • Scholarship provides an opportunity for an aspiring young leader to pursue her education

    Madeline Bishop, a dedicated volunteer at the YMCA of Okanagan was chosen to be a recipient of the Ted Rogers Scholarships. Madeline will receive $2,500 per year for the next four years to pursue her post-secondary education. She was recognized for her role as a dedicated volunteer at the YMCA of Okanagan and young leader in the community.

  • YMCA Cycle for Strong Kids raises over $85,000 for Okanagan Children

    On Sunday, May 27 nearly 350 riders raised over $85,000 for local children and youth at the YMCA of Okanagan’s largest fundraiser of the year, YMCA Cycle for Strong Kids. It is estimated this amount will benefit more than 600 local kids.

  • Brazilian family finds an inclusive community after adjusting to new life

    In search of a better life, Leonardo, Claudia, and their son Miguel moved from Brazil to Kelowna in May 2017. They found an inclusive community after accessing subsidized child care through the YMCA of Okanagan’s Financial Assistance Program.

  • Going for Gold at the 12th Annual Cycle for Strong Kids May 27

    Two-time Olympic Medalist and Kelowna’s hometown hero, Kelsey Serwa, and Jim Bates from Fresh Air, one of the presenting sponsors of this event, participating in YMCA’s Cycle for Strong Kids in 2016. The YMCA of Okanagan aims to raise over $100,000 at this year’s event, which will give vulnerable kids living in the Okanagan equal opportunity to participate in YMCA programs. 

  • Local youth #GetsLoud about mental health

    Genna McCansh, 25, is getting loud about her mental health experience in celebration of CMHA Mental Health Week. After accessing mental health programs and resources available through the YMCA of Okanagan, Genna has a new lease on life and can now effectively manage life’s highs and lows.

  • New program targets older adults

    Choose to Move will be the newest addition to the specialty health programs that are available at the YMCA of Okanagan and is designed to provide more opportunities for physical activity for older adults in BC.
