  • Drown-proofing our kids

    The Across the Lake Swim Society donated $40,000 to the YMCA Okanagan Swims Program in 2018, providing swim lessons to 2,800 children for free. Pictured are Peter Rudd and Kari Baranieski (ATLSS), with a grade three class of program participants from Watson Road Elementary.

    Diane Patterson, TELUS Community Board Member presents Cassandra Thomas, YMCA General Manager of Community Programs, Youth Works participants and staff with a cheque for $12,000 which purchased laptop computers for the employment program.

  • Our Y members knocked us out!

    The 2018 YMCA Move to Give Campaign has reached its goal! Together, our members raised over $30,100 by personal donation and event participation to help provide financial assistance to those who need it most.

  • Missionwood holiday feast supports local YMCA kids and families with a $6,300 donation

    Missionwood Retirement Staff and Residents present the YMCA with a $6,300 cheque to support the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. 100 percent of proceeds from their annual Gift of Giving luncheon was donated to enable local underprivileged families to participate in Y programs.

  • Registration Now Open for New YMCA Child Care Centre in Penticton

    The YMCA of Okanagan will be expanding its child care services into the Penticton community in Spring 2019, with a new multi-age child care centre at the Queen’s Park Elementary School. The facility, which opens March 4, 2019, will offer 59 new spaces for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years, including infant/toddler, 3-5 years, preschool, out of school care, as well as camps for 5- to 12-year-olds.

  • YMCA invites older adults to attend FREE health assessments

    Serena Moser, Health and Fitness Manager at the Kelowna Family YMCA with Marg, one of the Health Assessment participants. During the free Health Assessments staff and volunteers conduct 45-minute, one-on-one evaluations, testing blood pressure, cardiovascular health, muscular strength, balance, agility and more. 

  • Young Parents get all the support they need to graduate

    Dustin Read - Valley First Branch Manager presents Joan Spence – YMCA Family Support Facilitator and Rhonda Zakala – YMCA VP of Fund Development & Marketing with a $12,000 donation to support the Young Parents Program. 

  • Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign makes HUGE impact

    Local Tim Hortons locations raised over $32,349 from their Smile Cookie Campaign for the YMCA of Okanagan’s Healthy Snacks Program. These funds will help the Y serve nutritious snacks to all children in their care, including the 1 in 4 children whose families struggle to afford any snacks at all

  • YMCA of Okanagan Brings Mental Wellness Programs to West Kelowna and Penticton to Help Young People with Anxiety in BC

     The YMCA of Okanagan is expanding its Mental Wellness program offering to West Kelowna and Penticton helping young adults manage stress and anxiety issues. These free programs, offered to those between 13-30 years, will explore coping strategies and management tools in a supportive and accepting environment.
