  • Active living program for aging adults expands to accommodate more participants

    Choose to Move is a health focused program for older adults who are inactive or suffer from chronic disease. The free YMCA program has expanded to accommodate more adults who are looking to incorporate physical activity into their lifestyle but aren’t sure where to start.

  • Community raises an incredible $91,000 at Cycle for Strong Kids

    Riders were all smiles at Cycle for Strong Kids, raising a whopping $91,000 for local underprivileged children at the YMCA of Okanagan’s largest fundraiser. 100% of donations will 
    directly subsidize vital Y programs for children whose families struggle to afford them.


  • 9,000 more ways to help local children

    Melcor Developments donated $9000 to the YMCA of Okanagan’s Strong Kids Campaign.   • The Okanagan’s largest outdoor cycle class supports local children

    Cycle for Strong Kids, the YMCA of Okanagan’s largest fundraiser of the year, takes place this Sunday, May 26. A full 100% of donations will subsidize child care, camps, swim lessons, health memberships and recreational programs for vulnerable Okanagan children. The event hosts a silent auction, raffle, and fun 45-minute outdoor cycle class for pre-registered riders with a goal of raising $100,000. 

  • Morningside Rotary helps Young Parents to graduate

    The Morningside Rotary Club donated five new laptops to the YMCA’s Young Parents Program, making it easier for parents under 20 to complete their education and pursue valuable employment. 

  • 38 years of volunteering with children keeps Jill Siebert connected to her community

    On National Volunteer Week, Canada celebrates people like Jill Siebert who have been volunteering weekly since 1981 with children’s swim lessons at the YMCA of Okanagan. She has contributed close to 10,000 hours to ensure 1000’s of local children learn valuable water safety skills. 

  • Healthy Kids Day - A free family event hosted by the YMCA of Okanagan and Interior Savings.

    YMCA Healthy Kids Day, presented by Interior Savings, is back! It is more than an event, it is a national celebration dedicated to improving the health and well-being of kids in our community. This spring, the YMCA of Okanagan we are opening our doors even wider on May 5, for a fun-filled day of interactive games and activities for the whole family. 

  • Community Members Invited to Attend YMCA of Okanagan 2018 AGM

    The YMCA of Okanagan will host its Annual General Meeting on April 23 at the Kelowna Family YMCA to celebrate achievements in 2018, elect their Board of Directors and give recognition to staff and volunteers for years of service and excellence. 

  • Free community health assessment informs seniors of their physical health status

    During YMCA Senior Health Assessments staff and volunteers conduct 60-minute, one-on-one evaluations, testing blood pressure, cardiovascular health, muscular strength, balance, agility and more. 

  • Drown-proofing our kids

    The Across the Lake Swim Society donated $40,000 to the YMCA Okanagan Swims Program in 2018, providing swim lessons to 2,800 children for free. Pictured are Peter Rudd and Kari Baranieski (ATLSS), with a grade three class of program participants from Watson Road Elementary.
