Valley First Community Endowment supporting YMCA Young Parents program

The Valley First Community Endowment recently donated $13,500 to the YMCA’s Young Parent Program. The funding, administered by the First West Foundation, will provide parenting support, nutritious meals, diapers, formula and child care for teenage parents who are completing their education while raising their babies.

“These young parents are facing housing, mental health, life management and educational barriers,” says Danielle Miranda, General Manager of the Y’s Child Care programs. “The generosity from Valley First and the First West Foundation will ensure they will have the support and resources needed to graduate and achieve their future goals – either employment or post-secondary – as well as supporting the healthy development of their children.”

“We’re proud to partner with the YMCA and its Young Parents Program for a third year” says Susan Byrom, Executive Director with the First West Foundation. “Our goal at the First West Foundation is to work alongside local organizations to actively contribute to meaningful projects that make a positive and lasting impact in our communities. And our partnership with the YMCA enables us to do just that – by providing wrap-around resources and support to young parents and their babies, this program can be the catalyst for a future filled with opportunity. It’s truly rewarding to see the difference this program makes and just one way we’re able to help our communities and members thrive.”
