MEND: where families get fit and healthy for free!

MEND—Mind, Exercise, Nutrition… Do it!

MEND is a fun, free 10 week program for families with children ages 7–13 who are working together to achieve healthy weights.

The program facilitates safe, effective and lasting lifestyle changes by improving children’s physical activity levels, nutrition and self-esteem.

Next session starts: January 19

Saturdays 10:30–12:30 pm

Active Arts (Ages 3 – 5)

Develop your child’s sense of adventure as he or she experiments with activity and discovers their artistic side with art & crafts. Activities will focus on balance, spatial awareness, movement and safety skills. Kids will explore painting, drawing, cutting and gluing in the craft component.

September 21 — December 7 (11 classes)

Jr. Active Kids (Ages 3 – 5)

Using age-appropriate structured games and activities, this program will encourage your child to develop their strength, agility and coordination while learning about teamwork, fair play and social skills. Every second class also includes a swim.

September 23 — December 9 (11 classes)

Wednesdays 1:30 – 3:30 pm

Lil’ Ninjas Karate (Ages 3 – 5)

Lil’ Ninjas is a first step karate program that is taught by Nationally certified instructors of the Rodney Hobson Karate Academy. Your preschooler will learn basic karate techniques through games and activities. Participants can purchase a gi (karate uniform) at a discounted price through the Y. Please ask Member Services for more information.

September 22 — December 8 (12 classes)

Science N’ Swim (Ages 5 – 10)

Make your own Lava Lamp and see what happens when you mix pop and mentos! Try out some of the coolest hands-on experiments and end the night with a swim.

Craft N’ Swim (Ages 5 – 10)

Calling all crafty kids! Give Mom and Dad a night off while you get creative by making some impressive artistic masterpieces in this fun Friday night program. Don’t forget your swim gear, we’ll be hitting the pools after!

Active Kids (Ages 5 – 10)

Looking to get your child active during the after-school hours? Let them come hang out with the leaders at H2O and make new friends while we play indoor mini sports and structured games, and if the weather is nice outdoor activities. Make sure to pack a bathing suit as their will be plenty of swim time as well.

Get Unplugged (Ages 5 – 10)

Do you see the world in blocks? Have you trained your troops to capture the elusive gold and elixir? Join our staff and other gamers to play active games, create cool crafts and compete in collaborative challenges themed around your favorite video games! During the final half hour only, we will play Minecraft, Clash of Clans and other game favorites together on Xbox. Kids with ’E’ rated games on a portable system are encouraged to bring their game in and share their creations.

Sunday Boredom Busters (Ages 5 – 10)

Don’t let your kids suffer from the “I’m Bored” Blues! Come out to H2O for our themed afternoons where your child can be creative, swim and meet new friends.

Pro-Day Fun Camps (Ages 5 – 12)

Looking for something active and fun to do during your break from school? We will burn off some energy with active games, team challenges as well as have some swim time too! We’ll have themed crafts & games after lunch and fun activities in the studio. Sign your child up early to reserve your spot—limited space available.

Junior Karate (Ages 6 – 12)

Junior Karate is taught by Nationally certified instructors of the Rodney Hobson Karate Academy. We help children develop a healthy mind and body so they have the energy and fitness to face life’s challenges, and succeed. Girl Power (Ages 7 – 9)

Girl Power is a place to try new activities, build friendships, gain self-esteem and have a safe place to hang out with friends. Activities such as yoga, swimming, arts & crafts, and special events will keep the girls engaged and having fun.

Guy Stuff (Ages 8 – 13)

Get the guys together and try some new things. This program is filled with fun active evenings of boogie boarding on the FlowRider®, giving Hip-Hop a try, and having fun with friends with Fear Factor challenges, mad science nights and more.

Movie ‘n Swim Night (Ages 8 – 13)

Good news, Mom and Dad! Friday date night is back! Get out on the town or enjoy an uninterrupted workout while your kids join us for an age appropriate movie & swim! Popcorn included!

Home Alone and Prepared (Ages 9 – 12)

This course prepares children for the responsibilities of looking after themselves alone at home for short periods of time. Course uses hands on activities and group interactive learning covering the basics of first aid, responding to emergencies, kitchen safety, stranger danger awareness and fire safety skills.

October 18 & 25*

Sunday 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

*Must attend both days (6 hours) for course completion

Junior Leaders in Training (Ages 9 – 12)

Discover the leader in YOU! Learn valuable life skills and become a role model in the community by becoming a Junior Leader at the H2O. Topics covered will include: informed decision making, character development, team building, communication, volunteerism and fundraising.

Girls Unite (Ages 10 – 13)

The YMCA is a place where all girls can belong. Girls can develop new skills, get involved in the community, and gain self-esteem—all while building lifelong friendships. This program will include educational opportunities, volunteering, guest speakers, fun activities, and just hanging out with the girls.

September 21 — December 7 (11 classes)

Babysitter Training Course (Ages 11 – 14)

This course is designed to teach youth basic first aid and caregiving skills to become an effective, confident babysitter. Participants learn how to care for younger children in a variety of age groups, how to prevent and respond to emergencies and learn about appropriate activities and nutrition for children in their care.

October 13, 20, 27 & November 3, 10, 17*

Tuesdays 4:00 – 6:00 pm

Teen Takeover Nights

Teens, Friday night is your time to take over! Come hang out with your friends and our staff for different activities all over the facility. Keep your eye out for Hawaiian luau’s, neon nights, karaoke and BBQs! We shake it up with something new each week!
