MEND: where families get fit and healthy for free!

MEND—Mind, Exercise, Nutrition… Do it!

MEND is a fun, free 10 week program for families with children ages 7–13 who are working together to achieve healthy weights.

The program facilitates safe, effective and lasting lifestyle changes by improving children’s physical activity levels, nutrition and self-esteem.

Next session starts: January 19
Tuesdays 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Saturdays 10:30 am – 12:30 pm

Family Playtime (Ages 0 – 5)

Join us with your child(ren) in our interactive play centre where we offer a friendly environment to play, learn and make new friends. This program includes 45 minutes of free play & social time followed by story and song circle.

Coffee & refreshments served.

Active Arts (Ages 3 – 5)

Each week this structured program will explore age-appropriate crafts and toys, music, stories, and educational play. Turn-taking
and other social skills will be emphasized, allowing children learn, play and develop healthy, happy bodies and minds.

*Please note: You may only register for one session of Active Arts per week.

Let’s Dance (Ages 3 – 5)

Let’s Dance is an introduction to dance through music and movement while touching on the various dance styles. Come be active, meet new friends and build confidence!

Lil’ Ninjas Karate (Ages 3 – 5)

Lil’ Ninjas is a first step karate program that is taught by Nationally certified instructors of the Rodney Hobson Karate Academy. Your preschooler will learn basic karate techniques through games and activities. Participants can purchase a gi (karate uniform) at a discounted price through the Y. Please ask Member Services for more information.

Use Your Imagination! (Ages 3 – 6)

Does your child spin incredible tales full of fire-breathing dragons, twirl along with a friend in fairy tale land or turn your sandbox into a dino bone excavation site? Let your child discover the power of their imagination through pretend play, music & movement activities and open ended opportunities to create. Wear your jammies and enter our magical world where anything is possible!

January 13 — March 9 (9 classes)

Bricks for Kids (Ages 5 – 7)

Explore architecture and engineering by joining this awesome hands on LEGO® program! Children will design and build a different educational model each week including motorized machines!

Science N’ Swim (Ages 5 – 10)

Make your own Lava Lamp and see what happens when you mix pop and mentos! Try out some of the coolest hands-on experiments and end the night with a swim.

Craft N’ Swim (Ages 5 – 10)

Calling all crafty kids! Give Mom and Dad a night off while you get creative by making some impressive artistic masterpieces in this fun Friday night program. Don’t forget your swim gear, we’ll be hitting the pools after!

Junior Karate (Ages 6 – 12)

Junior Karate is taught by Nationally certified instructors of the Rodney Hobson Karate Academy. Girl Power (Ages 7 – 9)

Girl Power is a place to try new activities, build friendships, gain self-esteem and have a safe place to hang out with friends. Activities such as yoga, swimming, arts & crafts, and special events will keep the girls engaged and having fun.

Pro-Day Fun Camps (Ages 5 – 12)

Looking for something active and fun to do during your break from school? We will burn off some energy with active games, team challenges as well as have some swim time too! We’ll have themed crafts & games after lunch and fun activities in the studio. Sign your child up early to reserve your spot—limited space available.

Spring Break Fun Camps (Ages 5 – 12)

AM: H2O SEAL TEAM AQUATIC CAMP (6–12YRS) 8:30 am – 12:30 pm

Accelerate your child’s swimming skills with our Aquatic Camp that features an hour Y swim lesson, followed by some time to try out the FlowRider®, slides and lazy river.

AM: ACTIVE KIDS CAMP (Ages 5 – 12) 8:30 am – 12:30 pm

Keep your children healthy and active with our morning Active Kid’s Camp! We’ll play a variety of kid approved active games on an indoor field, followed by a fun swim in the H2O pools.

PM: Y THEME CAMPS (Ages 5 – 12) 12:30 – 4:30 pm

Theme inspired crafts and games, group challenges and team building activities help make each week a unique experience! Add in twice weekly dips in the pool and a movie to end each week, and you have the ingredients for a Spring Break full of memories!

Let the superstar inside of you shine bright! Express yourself through play and performances. Practice speaking and acting in front of a group, collaborating with a team, and letting your creativity run wild.

Boys in Action (Ages 8 – 13)

Get the guys together and try some new things. This program is filled with fun active evenings of boogie boarding on the FlowRider®, giving Hip-Hop a try, and having fun with friends with Fear Factor challenges, mad science nights and more.

Movie Mania (Ages 8 – 13)

Good news, Mom and Dad! Friday date night is back! Get out on the town or enjoy an uninterrupted workout while your kids join us for an age appropriate movie & swim! Popcorn included!

Home Alone and Prepared (Ages 9 – 12)

This course prepares children for the responsibilities of looking after themselves alone at home for short periods of time. Course uses hands on activities and group interactive learning covering the basics of first aid, responding to emergencies, kitchen safety, stranger danger awareness and fire safety skills.

January 24 & 31

Sunday 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

*Must attend both days (6 hours) for course completion

Junior Leaders in Training (Ages 9 – 13)

Discover the leader in YOU! Learn valuable life skills and become a role model in the community by becoming a Junior Leader at the H2O. Topics covered will include: informed decision making, character development, team building, communication, volunteerism and fundraising.

January 13 — March 3 (8 classes)

Girls Unite (Ages 10 – 13)

The YMCA is a place where all girls can belong. Girls can develop new skills, get involved in the community, and gain self-esteem—all while building lifelong friendships. This program will include educational opportunities, volunteering, guest speakers, fun activities, and just hanging out with the girls.

January 14 — March 3 (8 classes)

Thursdays 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Babysitter Training Course (Ages 11 – 14)

This course is designed to teach youth basic first aid and caregiving skills to become an effective, confident babysitter. Participants learn how to care for younger children in a variety of age groups, how to prevent and respond to emergencies and learn about appropriate activities and nutrition for children in their care.

January 20, 27 February 3, 10, 17, 24
